HTA licence approved for Joint Operations.
Joint Operations operates in several specialities which utilise human tissue for repair and regeneration. Primarily these include Orthopaedics, Burns and Plastics and Cardio Thoracic surgery. As such we are excited to announce that we have been granted a licence from the Human Tissue Authority to import, export, store and distribute donated tissue through our partner Allosource.
The Human Tissue Authority (HTA) regulates organisations that remove, store and use human tissue for research, medical treatment, post-mortem examination, education and training, and display in public. It was created by Parliament as an executive agency of the Department of Health and is overseen by an Authority of lay and professional members appointed by the Government.
Richard Forster, the Managing Director of Joint Operations, commented:
“I’m delighted that having assessed our quality systems the HTA has granted Joint Operations a license to fulfil this important role. Because of the gift of the donor and their families, we are now able to service the patients of our UK and Irish customers with the highest quality tissue.”
